A New Adventure Begins!

Here we go, this is my 1st attempt at doing any kind of a blog.  My darling wife, Babette, thought it might be a good idea for me to start one for this new adventure neither one of us has ever done before.  Babette is an experienced blogger on her My Spare Time Designs, but for me, I am a novice.  Hopefully, and with time, I will learn along the way.

For some time now Babette has talked about and toyed with the idea of turning an old doll house into a spooky old "Addam's Family" type Halloween home.  Her plans were to modify the exterior, and give it that "Spooky" look; then, add all the ghoulish detail plus the definitely needed orange and/or purple lights.  She first found this beige colored farmhouse which we both thought looked perfect.  It was also considerably cheaper to buy in this condition and make the needed modifications, rather than purchasing a new kit and starting one from scratch.  As you can see, it's missing some pieces, but since our plans are to make modifications, this really didn't matter.  The funny thing, after brain storming some possible ideas, we both figured why not also do a Christmas house, complete with all the decorations and lights.  I thought hey, we could also add a detached garage complete with an old toy truck parked out front.  Maybe even put a Christmas tree in the truck bed.  Yeah John, that's a great idea!  🤣

Babette agreed, so this started her quest to find a 2nd home to do as a Christmas project.  It didn't take her but a couple of days before she found this blue house.  Like the beige one, it too was in disrepair, but that didn't matter since it would also be modified.  Of course, the best part in acquiring both of these houses was the considerable cost savings vs. buying a new kit ... Score / Cha-Ching !!!

After comparing the 2 houses side by side, we decided a change was in order.  The beige house would actually look better as the Christmas Farmhouse, making the blue house the better candidate for the Halloween House.

So, the planning stage has begun, and soon the construction and/or modifications will start.  Hopefully, these 2 average looking houses will morph into something that will add a new look to the decorations in our home during these 2 fun time holidays.

On future posts, I plan to show some of the changes and modifications as Babette and I work on these 2 houses.  Since Halloween comes first, most of our work will be concentrated on the blue house to make sure we meet the fast approaching deadline.

In the past, Babette and our 3 sons have all told me I can be rather wordy; not me, no way, they are all wrong in their assumption.  No, I know I can run on, but for this first blog post I wanted to set the stage, so to speak, to let you know our game plan.  I promise all future posts will be much shorter and more to the point ... I hope so anyway!    🤣
